Along with the Inside Out 2 released date information, the D23 Expo teased story details for the sequel to the hit animated film. The sequel will still revolve around Riley and her emotional team, but this film will explore Riley as a teenager and will include some new emotions. If the mind of an adolescent was confusing enough, the emotions inside a teenager are going to be even more entertaining to watch. Itβs a natural progression for the story and should allow for more voice actors and characters to take center stage along with Joy, Sadness, and the others.
Pixar CCO Pete Docter revealed that there will be up to possibly 27 emotions in the upcoming sequel to Inside Out. This would be a huge increase in characters from the five in Inside Out but as a teenager, Riley will have much more complex emotions compared to her younger years. 27 emotions are necessary to tell the story of someone growing up in the simplicity of childhood.
