Inside Out 2 will give Riley new emotions to join Joy, Sadness, and the rest of the gang, but this creates a continuity problem with the first film. Of course, it's no surprise that Pixar created a sequel to the 2015 film Inside Out. Riley's story managed $858 million at the global box office. and perfectly set itself up to continue into Inside Out 2 with references to puberty. The new film's trailer confirms that the chaotic teenage years will be the new central theme with the introduction of the emotion Anxiety, but something about this addition doesn't make much sense.
The trailer for Inside Out 2 sees Riley celebrating her 13th birthday with her parents, leading to the moment that the "puberty alarm" goes off inside her head. The same emotions from the first film, Joy, Sadness, Anger, Disgust, and Fear, are seen in a panic as construction workers barge into headquarters and tear the place apart, leaving it in a complete wreck. As the dust settles, the gang realizes that there is a new emotion among them. Anxiety introduces themself and hints that other new headmates are on the wayβand this is precisely the problem.
